U.S. tech giant Meta says it will release an artificial intelligence
model foracademic andindustrial labs as competition in interactive
AI technology intensifies.
Facebook's parent company made the announcement Friday on its blog.
The company says its LLaMA model is designed to engage in dialogue
with users.
It can also generate text and summarize documents,
among other functions.
In a Facebook post, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said
LLaMA has shown a lot of promise for more complicated tasks like
solving mathematical theorems or predicting protein strutures.
Meta says the model is focused on research.Access to it will be granted to academics,goverment and civil society organizations,
and industry research laboratories.
Meta's rivals include Microsoft, Google,and U.S. firm Open AI,
whose ChatGPT is gaining wide use around the world.
