　I was lucky enough, in my student years, to belong to one
such group.  Boys and girls met in large groups of thirty or  
forty and had the most wonderful time.  A large portion of
our free time was spent with music.  Out of the enthusiasm
of those hours blossomed beautiful settings of the melodies
we brought home from our hikes through the mountains, for
two, three, four,  and  five  parts,  a cappella and with the
accompaniment  of  instruments.

    学生時代の事ですが、私は運がよくて、そういう
団体に所属していました．３０人か４０人ぐらいの大
きなグループの中で、男子と女子が出会い、とても素
晴らしい時を楽しく過ごしました．自由時間の大部分
は音楽に費やされました．　自由時間の中の熱心さか
ら、私たちが山道をたどり、持ち帰った数々の素晴ら
しいメロディーが編曲されて、花が開きました．
あるものは２部、またあるものは３部、４部、５部
合唱に、無伴奏の歌も楽器伴奏のものもありました．
