So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord
and afflicted Job with painful sores from
the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.
こうして神様の前から引き下がったサタンは、
ヨブを、頭のてっぺんから足の裏まで悪性のはれものだらけにし、
責め立てました。
Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and
scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.
ヨブは土器のかけらで体中をかき、
灰の上に座り込んだのです。
His wife said to him,
“Are you still maintaining your integrity?
Curse God and die!”
それを見て、妻がそそのかしました。
「こんなひどい仕打ちに会っても、まだ神様をたいせつにするの。
いっそ、神様をのろって死んだらどう？......」
He replied,
“You are talking like a foolish woman.
Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”
神様から祝福ばかりいただいて、
災いはお断わりという法があるかい。」
こうしてヨブは、このようになってもなお、
神様を冒涜するようなことは、いっさい口にしませんでした。
ヨブを、頭のてっぺんから足の裏まで悪性のはれものだらけにし、

In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
「まるで、神様を知らない外国の女のような口をきくんだな。神様から祝福ばかりいただいて、
災いはお断わりという法があるかい。」

神様を冒涜するようなことは、いっさい口にしませんでした。
