“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.
わたしはまことのぶどうの木、わたしの父は農夫である。
He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit,
and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
わたしにつながっている枝で実を結ばないものは、
父がすべてこれをとりのぞき、実を結ぶものは、
もっと豊かに実らせるために、手入れしてこれをきれいになさるのである。
You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.
あなたがたは、わたしが語った言葉によって既にきよくされている。
Remain in me, and I will remain in you.
For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine,
and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
わたしにつながっていなさい。そうすれば、わたしはあなたがたとつながっていよう。
枝がぶどうの木につながっていなければ、自分だけでは実を結ぶことができないように、
あなたがたもわたしにつながっていなければ実を結ぶことができない。
わたしはまことのぶどうの木、わたしの父は農夫である。

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches.
Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.
For apart from me you can do nothing.
わたしはぶどうの木、あなたがたはその枝である。もし人がわたしにつながっており、
またわたしがその人とつながっておれば、その人は実を豊かに結ぶようになる。
わたしから離れては、あなたがたは何一つできないからである。
Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.
人がわたしにつながっていないならば、枝のように外に投げすてられて枯れる。
人々はそれをかき集め、火に投げ入れて、焼いてしまうのである。
But if you remain in me and my words remain in you,
you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
あなたがたがわたしにつながっており、わたしの言葉があなたがたにとどまっているならば、なんでも望むものを求めるがよい。そうすれば、与えられるであろう。
When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples.
This brings great glory to my Father.
あなたがたが実を豊かに結び、そしてわたしの弟子となるならば、それによって、
わたしの父は栄光をお受けになるであろう。
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.
父がわたしを愛されたように、わたしもあなたがたを愛したのである。
わたしの愛のうちにいなさい。
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love,
just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
もしわたしのいましめを守るならば、あなたがたはわたしの愛のうちにおるのである。
それはわたしがわたしの父のいましめを守ったので、その愛のうちにおるのと同じである。
わたしの父は栄光をお受けになるであろう。
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.
父がわたしを愛されたように、わたしもあなたがたを愛したのである。
わたしの愛のうちにいなさい。
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love,
just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
もしわたしのいましめを守るならば、あなたがたはわたしの愛のうちにおるのである。
