When Naomi saw that Ruth was determined to go with her,
ナオミはルツが自分と一緒に行こうと、固く決心しているのを見たので、

she said nothing more.
そのうえ言うことをやめた。

So the two of them continued on their journey.
そしてふたりは旅をつづけて、ついにベツレヘムに着いた。

When they came to Bethlehem, the entire town was excited by their arrival.
彼らがベツレヘムに着いたとき、町はこぞって彼らのために騒ぎたち、

“Is it really Naomi?” the women asked.
女たちは言った、「これはナオミですか」。

“Don’t call me Naomi,” she responded.
ナオミは彼らに言った、「わたしをナオミ（楽しみ）と呼ばずに、

“Instead, call me Mara,
マラ（苦しみ）と呼んでください。

for the Almighty has made life very bitter for me.
なぜなら全能者がわたしをひどく苦しめられたからです。

I went away full, but
わたしは出て行くときは豊かでありましたが、

the LORD has brought me home empty.
主はわたしをから手で帰されました。

the LORD has caused me to suffert and
主がわたしを悩まし、

the Almighty has sent such tragedy upon me
全能者がわたしに災をくだされたのに、

Why call me Naomi?
どうしてわたしをナオミと呼ぶのですか」。

Naomi took the baby and cuddled him to her breast
そこでナオミはその子をとり、ふところに置いて、

And she cared for him as if he were her own.
養い育てた。

The neighbor women said, “Now at last Naomi has a son again!”
近所の女たちは「ナオミに男の子が生れた」と言って、

And they named him Obed.
彼に名をつけ、その名をオベデと呼んだ。

He became the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David.
彼はダビデの父であるエッサイの父となった。
