IN PRINCIPIO ERAT VERBUM,
In the beginning was the Word,
初めに言があった。
ET VERBUM ERAT APUD DEUM,
and the Word was with God,
言は神と共にあった。
ET DEUS ERAT VERBUM.
and God was the Word.
言は神であった。
HOC ERAT IN PRINCIPIO APUD DEUM.
He was with God in the beginning.
この言は初めに神と共にあった。
OMNIA PER IPSUM FACTA SUNT:
All things were made through Him,
すべてのものは、彼によってできた。
ET SINE IPSO FACTUM EST NIHIL, QUOD FACTUM EST,
and nothing that was made was made without Him.
できたもののうち、一つとしてこれによらないものはなかった。
IN IPSO VITA ERAT, ET VITA ERAT LUX HOMINUM:
Life was in Him, and Life gives light to everyone.
この言に命があった。そしてこの命は人の光であった。
